Self Discovery Quiz

“It takes courage to look within—self-reflection is the first step toward freedom.”

Self-Discovery Quiz

It’s time for a deep dive into you.

Dear Participant,

Thank you for taking this important step toward self-discovery and personal growth. Whether you’re beginning your journey or you’ve explored many paths before, this process is designed to help you go deeper — beyond surface-level change — into the patterns that shape how you think, feel, and live.

By answering these questions honestly, you’ll begin to uncover influences from childhood and even generational conditioning. Awareness is the first step toward transformation. This quiz is not about judgment — it’s about clarity. The insights you gain may gently illuminate why certain patterns persist and where healing and freedom are now possible.

Instructions

  • Answer each question honestly. Your first instinct is often closest to your truth.

  • Notice how you feel as you respond — tense, dismissive, curious, emotional. These reactions are valuable information.

  • You may wish to jot down reflections to revisit later or share if you choose to work one-on-one or join a course.

  • If you feel resistance (eye-rolling, dread, shallow breathing, or the urge to rush), that’s normal. It often signals areas ready to be met with safety and care.

If any question brings up distress or memories you’re not ready to explore alone, please pause, ground yourself, and seek support. You are not required to process everything on your own.

Section 1: Childhood Programming

Please answer Yes or No, unless otherwise indicated.

  1. Did you feel liked or wanted by your mother during childhood?

  2. Did you feel liked or wanted by your father during childhood?

  3. Did you feel liked or wanted by your siblings?

  4. Were you generally an emotionally happy child?

  5. How would you describe your mother’s general mood?
(Circle one or more: angry, shut down, quiet, open, supportive, sad, happy)

  6. Was there positive, supportive conversation at the dinner table?

  7. Did you experience physical or emotional abuse that made you feel unsafe?

  8. Were you neglected or left alone for long periods?

  9. Did anyone ever touch you inappropriately?
(Circle: family member / relative / family friend)

  10. Did you regularly hear words of encouragement and praise?

  11. Did your father make you feel safe?

Reflection

How has this section made you feel? Write a few words.

You may wish to consider how early experiences have influenced:

  • Career choices and sense of purpose

  • Relationships

  • Health (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual)

  • Financial stability

  • Social life and creativity

Feeling overwhelmed here is not a failure — it’s often a sign your nervous system and self-belief are ready to be nurtured and gently re-scripted.

Section 2: Generational Programming

  1. Did your parents often, sometimes, or rarely talk about their hard childhood and tell you to be grateful?

  2. Were you shamed or yelled at because your parents had similar childhood experiences? (Yes / No / Don’t know)

  3. Do you understand your parents’ childhood experiences?

  4. Was your mother abused? (Yes / No / Don’t know)

  5. Was your father treated with kindness and respect as a boy? (Yes / No / Don’t know)

  6. Were cultural or religious restrictions placed on you growing up?

  7. How would you describe your father’s overall behaviour?
(Circle: kind, angry, strict, mean, sad, loving, happy)

  8. How would you describe family gatherings?
    (Circle: joyful, stressful, good, bad)

  9. Were you given positive examples of life before you?

  10. Did you have a close bond with one or more grandparents?

Reflection

How has this section left you feeling?
(Circle any that apply: Compassionate, Sad, Alarmed, Hopeful, Curious, Ready to break the cycle, Positive, or Pleased)

✧ Self-Reflection Guide (Optional) ✧

This is not a test. There are no right or wrong answers.
Simply notice which description feels closest to your experience.

Mostly “Yes” answers to safety, warmth, and encouragement

You may have had a reasonably secure emotional foundation, yet still carry stress from later life experiences. Growth here often involves softening control, trusting support, and deepening emotional safety within yourself.

A mix of “Yes” and “No” answers

This commonly reflects inconsistent emotional safety. Many people here become highly capable, independent, and strong — while quietly managing anxiety, self-doubt, or people-pleasing patterns. Nervous-system-based support can be deeply stabilising and empowering.

Mostly “No” answers, or strong emotional reactions

This suggests early emotional disruption or unmet needs. You may experience overwhelm, hyper-vigilance, self-criticism, or disconnection at times. This is not weakness — it is a nervous system that adapted to survive. With the right support, profound healing, confidence, and inner freedom are possible.

If you felt emotional, numb, resistant, or tearful at any point — that is information.
Your system is communicating that it’s ready to be met with safety.

Well Done

Completing this quiz is a courageous step toward understanding yourself at a deeper level. Awareness is the foundation of change — and you’ve just begun building it.

Remember:

  • Every insight you uncover is a key to breaking old patterns.

  • Emotional responses are normal and meaningful.

  • You are not broken — your system learned how to cope.
